Diagnostic and Support Tools for HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 ensure the reliability of your computer system.

This package provides a complete set of Diagnostic and Support Tools for verifying, troubleshooting, and monitoring your system hardware, such as CPUs, memory, interface cards, and mass storage devices.

Note: HP-UX 11i v3 September 2011 web release onwards, all the three products, SysFaultMgmt, OnlineDiag and ProviderSvcsBase are available on the new "WBEM Management bundle for HP-UX 11i v3" page. The other two products Direct Attached Storage Provider and System Management Plus are available for download from the respective web page. The new "WBEM Management products bundle" consists of WBEM providers and Diagnostics products and is released only on the web. Features and Benefits

The Diagnostic and Support Tools include the following:

  • Support Tools Manager (STM): Upon startup, STM provides a map of all the hardware devices on your system. Using this view, you can select devices, receive information, or run online tools. STM tools include verifiers, exercisers, information modules, and utilities. Some STM tools are password-protected and are meant for HP internal use only.
  • EMS Hardware Monitors: You can use EMS Hardware Monitors for maintaining system availability. EMS Hardware Monitors allow you to monitor operations of a wide variety of hardware. They alert you immediately if any failure or a suspicious event occurs.

The following characteristics of Diagnostic and Support Tools ensure the reliability of your computer system:

  • Fast and easy means to solve problems
  • Proactive notification by hardware monitors of suspicious hardware events that might lead to failure
  • STM allows you to save certain error logs that help in identifying the source of a problem
  • Memory Page Deallocation (MPD) reduces the possibility of system failures due to memory problems. MPD is available only if STM is installed
  • CPU monitor takes Dynamic Processor Resilience (DPR) action to remove a faulty processor from service and replace it with a spare processor on the system, if available

Diagnostic and Support Tools enable you to do the following:

  • Test the system online for correct operation
  • Obtain hardware-related information (information modules in STM)
  • Review and analyze log file information for I/O-related events (STM logtool)

Updates

Each newer version incorporates improvements in the interface, tools, or functionality. The newer versions support more hardware. If your system has new hardware, you must update to a version that supports the hardware.

There is a different downloadable version of Diagnostic and Support Tools for each of the following versions of HP-UX:

  • HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23) (September 2015 release)
    B.11.23.15.03 , STM version: C.67.00
  • HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11) (September 2015 release)
    B.11.11.22.04, STM version: A.68.00

The various notations in the software versions are explained in the following table:

Notations Description
ID number (for example, B.11.23.14.xx) Software Depot ID number which can be displayed using the "swlist" command
xx String used for HP internal use only
STM version number (for example, C.67.00) Appears when the xstm, mstm, or cstm program is executed. It also appears when monconfig is run.

New versions of Diagnostic and Support Tools are usually available for each HP-UX 11i release.
