Overview

The quorum server is an alternate form of cluster lock that uses a server program running on a separate system for tie-breaking. Should equal sized groups of nodes become separated from each other, the quorum server allows one group to achieve quorum and form the cluster, while the other group is denied quorum and cannot start a cluster.

For more information, see "HPE Serviceguard Quorum Server for Linux Version A.12.40.00 Release Notes" available on the HPESC website at https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=a00061744en_us

What's New:

Quorum Server for Linux 12.40.00 provides support for running the quorum server software on Oracle Linux 7.x and SUSE enterprise Linux 15. For more information see HPE Serviceguard Quorum Server for Linux Version A.12.40.00 Release Notes.

Quorum Server for Linux 12.30.10 provides enhanced Smart Quorum feature to handle the quorum grant requests between the nodes of a cluster and the quorum server. This enhanced quorum protocol, which is also referred to as Heartbeat based Smart quorum, provides quorum grant to a node in a two node cluster which has superior heartbeat network health status over the other node. For more information on how to use this feature, see HPE Serviceguard Quorum Server for Linux Version A.12.30.10 Release Notes

Quorum Server for Linux version 12.00.30 introduces Smart Quorum feature to handle the quorum grant requests between the nodes of a cluster and the quorum server. This new approach is introduced to increase the availability of critical workloads which can be deployed only in clusters configured with site-aware failover capability. For more information on how to use Smart Quorum and its parameter, see HPE Serviceguard Quorum Server for Linux Version A.12.00.30 Release Notes

Quorum Server A.04.00.01 provides support for Serviceguard for Linux A.11.20.00 or later with RHEL 6 on HPE ProLiant x86 platforms. For the latest list of certified servers and distributions for use with HPE Serviceguard for Linux A.11.20.00 or later, please see the support matrix.

Quorum Server A.04.00.00 allows Serviceguard A.11.19 cluster nodes to communicate with the Quorum Server using IPv6 subnets:

  • Note that Quorum Server A.04.00.00 is required if you are using an alternate subnet for QS with Serviceguard A.11.19.
  • The SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 for x86 and for Integrity download versions are the same as the SLES10 versions. The filenames that are downloaded will indicate "sles10". This is normal and these are supported.

Quorum Server A.03.00.00 now provides support for two IP addresses:

  • Note that when downloading the Red Hat5 version the RPMs will indicate Red Hat4. They are the same.

Quorum Server A.02.00.04 now provides support for HP-UX 11iv3 and SLES10 Linux.

Quorum Server A.02.00.03 now provides support for SLES9.

Quorum Server A.02.00.03 now provides support for the AMD64/Intel EM64T architectures on Linux.

Quorum Server for Red Hat Professional 7.3 Linux is no longer available.

Quorum Server A.02.00.03 fixed the following defect(s):

  • Erroneously reports on Linux that QS could not open the cluster lock LUN.
