Product documentation and support information

Product Revision Number

New versions of the HP CIFS server are identified by the product revision number (X.yy.yy.FF), and is either a feature or fix release.
Feature releases include new functionality or new Samba source version. The base product revision number (X.yy.yy) is increased from the previous version number. A fix suffix number is not used. Fix releases include only those changes required to correct specific defects. The base product revision number (X.yy.yy) is unchanged. Only the fix suffix number (X.yy.yy.FF) is increased.

Product support policy

The standard HP-UX product support policy is applicable to HPE CIFS Server. The latest, currently shipping version and the immediately preceding version of HPE CIFS Server is supported. In this context, version is considered a feature release as described in the 'Product revision number' section above. While a feature release may have several fix release versions, support and lab investigation requires that a problem be reproducible on the latest fix release of the currently shipping or immediately preceding feature release. Any fixes required will be applied only to the latest fix release of the supported feature releases.
The following table provides the product version and releases that are supported.

HP-UX Version Current feature release Preceding feature release
11.11 A.02.04.07 A.02.03.07
11.23 A.03.02.05 A.03.01.07
11.31 B.04.09.00.00 B.04.05.15.00

Fixed for all supported product versions (as mentioned in the above table) will be available in next/impending release of that particular version only. In cases where the customer cannot wait till the next fix release, we can provide a UNOF/unofficial release as a stop-gap arrangement.

It is recommended that the customer always use the latest available fix release for all supported product versions (as mentioned in the above table). Any defects found would be fixed only if it exists in the latest release of a product version.
