Product details and specifications

HP-UX GUID (Globally Unique IDentifier) Manager (GUIDMgr) is a client-server based product that allocates and manages unique World-Wide Names (WWNs) for N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), so you do not have to perform these tasks manually.

Administrators are responsible for tracking WWNs and guaranteeing their uniqueness across the Storage Area Network (SAN). GUIDMgr provides a mechanism to manage unique WWNs, so that the same name is not reallocated until freed, to avoid potential data corruption, when Logical Storage is presented to multiple vPars by mistake. GUIDMgr helps in accomplishing this task.

Defects fixed in this release

  • QXCR1001565325: guidmgr stops working after updating to Secure Shell A.07.30
  • QXCR1001621955: fails unless is it run in a world readable directory

GUIDMgr is integrated with HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) v6.0 and HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM V6.1 or later to support NPIV. GUIDMgr is also integrated with HPE Integrity Virtual Server Manager to support managing the WWN ranges in the GUID server.
