HPE Out-of-Box Tool for Java supports HP-UX 11i HP Integrity and HP 9000 PA-RISC systems.

The default HP-UX configuration—specifically kernel parameters and system tunables—does not support certain types of Java applications well.   Applications that typically need to be tuned by hand are large, server-side Java applications that are long running, have large numbers of threads, and have a large ratio of client to server connects.

HPE Out-of-Box Tool for Java is a stand-alone bundle that upon installation will install startup (RC) scripts, modify kernel parameters, rebuild the kernel, and reboot only for 11i v1 (11.11) to install the new kernel. For 11i v2 (11.23) and 11i v3 (11.31), reboot is required only if maxfiles changes. The startup scripts will modify system tunables, thus providing better "Out of the Box" behavior for Java.

Because HPE Out-of-Box Tool for Java is intended for large server-side Java applications, HPE recommends that you do not install HPE Out-of-Box Tool for Java on systems used solely as desktops. In addition, do not install it on systems with less than 512MB of physical memory.
