 HostAvioLan

The Integrity VM v3.5 release introduces new accelerated storage and networking products to improve the overall I/O performance  for Integrity VM. These new Accelerated Virtual I/O (AVIO) products provide up to a 60% reduction in service demand and as much as twofold improvement in throughput over the existing fully virtualized storage and networking Integrity VM solutions.

The AVIO LAN technology consists of two components, an Integrity VM Host component (HostAvioLan) and an Integrity VM Guest component (GuestAvioLan). A user must install and configure the respective kernel drivers on the VM Host and Guest systems for the complete AVIO LAN functionality.

Customers using HP-UX Virtual Partitions v6.0 or Integrity VM v4.30 and v4.2x release should install the October 2013 AVIO web release (B.11.31.1211.01).

Note:

-          AVIO B.11.31.1211.01 version bundles are not supported on OE later to 1109

-          Do not install AVIO B.11.31.1211.01 version bundles on HP-UX vPars & Integrity VM v6.1 and later versions.

Enhancements

QXCR1001153899: AVIO LAN performance enhancements to support vPars v6.0.

Defect Fixes

QXCR1001139251: Memory leak fix. Memory allocated from the M_DYNAMIC arena is not freed by the HostAvioLan.

QXCR1001105036: Host panic due to race conditions in a VLAN backed vswitch configuration.

QXCR1001158129: Host panic when HostAvioLan handles a packet which has a multicast MAC address but with an IP unicast address.

QXCR1001155535: The HSSN-KRN configure script fails during the update-ux operation due to a driver dependency issue.

QXCR1001170750: Loss of network connectivity on an existing VLAN based vswitch when another VLAN based vswitch is started on the same Auto Port Aggregation (APA) interface.

March 2011 Fusion

B.11.31.1103

Enhancements

QXCR1001017154:  This feature enables multiple AVIO localnet vswitches to be configured on the host. AVIO guests can be configured with these localnet vswitch ports. Such guests can only communicate with other guests configured on the same localnet vswitch.

QXCR1001085087: This feature enables creating, deleting and manipulating tagged (guest based) and untagged (port based) VLAN ids on a localnet switch port. This feature thus enables guests configured on a localnet vswitch to be further isolated into VLAN domains using guest-based or port-based VLAN.

Defect Fixes

QXCR1001020195: Host can panic when a guest is restarted while the vswitch in halt state.

QXCR1001046174: Guest to remote guest through VLan Backed VSwitch, "Ping" doesnt work, but "link loop" is working.

B.11.31.1009

Enhancements

QXCR1001020974: This enhancement supports the Suspend and resume feature for AVIO Lan driver. With suspend and resume feature, the guest can be suspended and image can be written in to a file. The guest can be brought-up anytime, from the suspended feature. This CR ensures the AVIO networking facilities are intact across suspend and resume.

B.11.31.1004

Enhancements

QXCR1001038566: Pre-enablement for future HPEVM AVIO LAN localnet support. This will enable a local virtual network to connect among the guests. Guests (AVIO/VIO) can communicate with each other over a logical network created on the host. Refer to Integrity VM documentation and release notes for further information regarding this feature.

QXCR1000985358: Support for VLAN backed vSwitch in HostAvioLAN Driver. VLAN vSwitch is now able to handle data path in the guest vNIC. With this the guests on the same host with vNIC backed by the same VLAN vSwitch can link loop to each other.

Defect Fixes
