What's New in HPE OneView 5.00.00.02 (update release, October-2019)
This update to HPE OneView 5.00 contains several defect repairs. This patch can be applied to any previous HPE OneView 4.10.03 or later release. OneView 4.10.03 is the minimum required version to upgrade to 5.00.00.02. The 5.00.00.02 update.bin replaces the 5.00 and 5.00.00.01 update.bin.

NOTE: If you have already successfully upgraded to the OneView 5.00 (5.00.00) or the 5.00.00.01 version, upgrading to 5.00.00.02 is not required.

What's New in HPE OneView 5.0 (new release, August-2019)

HPE OneView 5.0 is a major release that includes many enhancements including:

  • A quick view of all your firmware at your fingertips that allows simplified firmware management and compliance at scale with new firmware dashboard and configuration consistency indicators

  • Improved server management with online updates and extended iLO configurations (including host name and key manager set up support)

  • Upgraded user interface that provides better navigation and easy access to common tasks

  • Provisioning of HPE Nimble storage volumes via HPE OneView server profiles, server profile templates, volume templates and standalone volumes

  • In just a few clicks, HPE OneView automates SAN storage provisioning for DL and Apollo servers within minutes

For updates from HPE OneView 4.10.03 or later use the 5.00.00.02 update file. OneView 4.10.03 is the minimum required version to upgrade to 5.00.00.02.

IMPORTANT: Immediately before upgrading to HPE OneView 4.20.02 or HPE OneView 5.00.00.02, install HPE_PreUpgrade_4.20_5.00_Z7550-96608.bin. This file is accessible from the HPE Software Depot download pages for HPE OneView. This PreUpdate task displays a progress bar (with % completion) and for the vast majority of customers the PreUpgrade task will complete within 10mins and return the user back to the Settings page where they can start the Update. In very rare cases this task may run for multiple hours and in those cases, if no errors are displayed, the customer is advised to let the task run to completion. If the PreUpgrade bin file has already been applied to the appliance, there is no need to repeat the process prior to upgrading to OneView 4.20.02 or 5.00.00.02. If the PreUpgrade bin file has not been applied, it is important to apply it prior to upgrading to 4.20.02 or 5.00 regardless of the current release of the HPE OneView virtual appliance. This update to HPE OneView 4.20 contains several defect repairs. This patch can be applied to any previous HPE OneView 4.20 or later release.

What's New in HPE OneView 4.20.01.01 (update release, April-2019)

This release replaces HPE OneView release 4.2 (version 4.20.01). This update to HPE OneView 4.20 contains several defect repairs. Any HPE OneView 4.00.05 or later can update to 4.20.01.01.We recommend any customer who is running HPE OneView release 4.2 to upgrade to 4.20.01.01.

What's New in HPE OneView 4.2 (new release, February-2019)

HPE OneView 4.2 is a major release that includes many enhancements:

  • Software defined infrastructure management and automation of the HPE Composable Cloud for ProLiant DL

  • Configure HPE Intgerated Lights Out(iLO) directly from HPE OneView

  • Support for IPv6 only addresses on HPE OneView appliances and HPE OneView managed HPE ProLiant DL servers

  • New detailed infrastructure inventory for HPE ProLiant Gen 10 servers including granular information on memory, NIC, HBA and Smart Array storage components

  • Provisioning of HPE Nimble storage volumes via HPE OneView server profiles, server profile templates, volume templates and standalone volumes

  • Support for the Superdome Flex platform, including  24x7 monitoring of hardware, automatic case creation for hardware failures, and data collections to enable Proactive assessments    

Any HPE OneView 4.00.05 or later can update to 4.2.

HPE OneView 4.1 is a major release that includes many enhancements:

  • Automatic firmware updates on your ESX clusters with new orchestrated rolling cluster updates for c-Class Blade Systems with HPE Virtual Connect

  • Up to 50% faster firmware update times with new secure iLO repository updates

  • Faster resolution time with HPE OneView Remote Technician, a new capability that allows you to securely and remotely troubleshoot live with an HPE service technician Intelligent infrastructure management by deploying, updating and automating clusters with cluster profilesIncreased security in the data center with FIPS 140-2 validation for cryptographic modules and Commercial National Security Algorithms (CNSA) mode support for HPE Gen10 ProLiant servers

  • 3PAR large volume and compression support. Ability to manage compression state of 3PAR volumes over volume lifetime and support for 3PAR volumes up to a size of 64TiB

  • Support for SP/SPT driven SAN storage management using Brocade fibre channel interconnect modules 8 and 16Gb. Data volume support only (no boot-from-SAN configuration when using these ICMs) for Gen 9 and above servers only

  • Email notification for support case open/close. Ability to configure emails to be sent to your remote support contacts on creation and support case closure
  • Remote support added for HPE Virtual Connect FlexFabric-20/40 F8 Module for c-Class Blade System and HPE Virtual Connect 16Gb 24-port Fibre Channel  Module for c-Class Blade System

Any HPE OneView 3.10.04 or later can update to 4.1.

What's New in HPE OneView 4.00.07.02 (update release, March-2018)

This update to HPE OneView 4.00.07contains one critical defect repair in order to support Gen10 servers running iLO5 version 1.20. This patch is required if running HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers with iLO5 v1.20.

Note: If you are running versions prior to 4.00, you must upgrade to a minimum of 4.00.05 prior to installing this patch. Upgrades from 4.00.05 and above to 4.00.07.02 are fully supported.

What's New in HPE OneView 4.00.07 (new release, January-2018)

HPE OneView 4.00.07 is a major release that includes many enhancements:

  • Automated discovery of HPE ProLiant DL, XL and ML servers automates the addition of multiple servers

  • SNMPv3 support enhances security of monitoring server hardware and interconnects

  • Scope Based Access Control support extends today's role based access control by restricting a role (e.g. Server, Storage, or Network Admin) to operate only on a subset of resources managed by the appliance

  • Two Factor Authentication provides the ability to authenticate using smartcards in the initial implementation

  • Certificate management improves the policies and procedures for managing certificate-based trust. For example, ability to manage the OneView certificate trust store, support for certificate revocation (CRLs), management of self-signed certificates, etc.

  • Boot from SAN configuration load balancing
